Salem Wildlife Rescue is currently working to ban glue traps in the state of Massachusetts. Though we have passed the initial deadline to submit new bills, I have been in talks with a couple State Senators and Representatives who are interested in helping me try to make this a reality.
A few bills have been introduced over the years but have fallen through. If we can get this going and turned into a bill, and show that we have enough supporters behind it, maybe we can make a bill banning the torturous and inhumane glue traps finally pass!
SWR is also helping in the fight of trying to get SGARs (Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticide) banned in Massachusetts, particularly here in Salem. These poisons kill the predators who control the rat population FOR FREE. They are sickened and horrifically die from consuming these poisoned rodents. How is this allowed and okay? More humane methods exist!
More information will be added as it becomes available!
What Can You Do In the Meantime?
Please write a letter/email to your local State Senators and Representatives! Let them know you support Jess and Salem Wildlife Rescue's effort and are referencing that, as well as why these inhumane methods of pest control are horrible and why you want to see them banned. With enough support, maybe we can get some attention!
Your support and donations allow us to be able do this crucial advocacy work and saving lives! Even something as simple as flyers to pass out on the street or at events costs money to make.
Caring for wildlife and running a rescue is very expensive, and we need your help!
